Who are these men, and what are they doing?

The Heralds of Harmony have been entertaining Florida audiences in the barbershop style since 1945 and currently rank among the nation's best male vocal ensembles. The Tampa Bay Heralds of Harmony is a semi-professional chorus affiliated with the Barbershop Harmony Society. The chorus performs throughout the Florida and regularly represents the state in the society's annual international chorus competition where they have place as high as ninth in the world.

Chorus members pass a rigorous initial audition and commit to three hours of ensemble rehearsal each week as well as special rehearsals and performances throughout the season. Contemporary barbershop music is often performed with choreography for a dynamic visual effect. Ages range from middle school through retired seniors and membership is open to men and boys from all walks of life. There are also father-son members and one family spanning three generations in the Heralds.

Throughout the year, the Heralds are featured as guest performers in various concert series and at numerous events throughout the Tampa Bay area. Their music has delighted a wide range of audiences in many different performance venues. In addition, the Heralds also annually produce their own shows in June and at Christmas time, all performed in the beautiful Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.

The Heralds have supported the community by providing benefit performances for the Spring of Tampa Bay in Hillsborough County and The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast in Pinellas County. Other worthy organizations often enjoy reduced rate performances by the chorus or its featured quartets and ensembles.

The Heralds also engage in an active youth outreach program offering in-service training to the vocal music educators of Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties and by participating as a clinic chorus in the Florida Music Educators Association Annual Convention.

The Heralds are an equal opportunity auditioned chorus where visitors are always welcome. The Heralds rehearse 7 p.m. every Tuesday night at:

Tampa Scottish Rite Masonic Lodge
5500 Memorial Blvd.
Tampa, FL 33634
